Union Takes the Fifth

Saint John Union found the range from long distance and picked up their fifth win of the season.

The Union connected on 13 three-pointers and beat the Valley Vipers 114-101 in an Eastern Canadian Basketball League game before almost 1,000 spectators Sunday at TD Station.

The victory gives the Union sole possession of second place with a 5-3 while the Vipers dropped to 1-5.

Mikey Rodriquez led the Union with 25 points while Chevon Brown scored 23 and London Hoxie added 22. Anthony Ottley answered with 28 points for the Vipers, who trailed 59-48 at halftime. Alex Muise had 23 points and JoBreil Power netted 18.

League play resumes on Monday, when the Bathurst Bears host the Union. Game time is 7 p.m. at the K.C. Irving Centre. The Vipers host the Bears on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Stu Aberdeen Centre on the campus of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

At the same time, the Union visit the first-place Truro Tide (8-0) at the Cobequid Education Centre.
