Bears Happy for North Shore

“I wouldn’t say I doubted the ability of my team – I know these guys can win in this league,” Langis says. “The trust, the chemistry and the concentration – these are the things we need to keep building on,” he continues. “We can never be too strong in those facets of competing.”

Bathurst Bears Head Coach Serge Langis was emotional after his team’s first victory in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

“It was frustrating to get there, but we finally got one,” Langis says. “They recognize how passionately the North Shore (of new Brunswick) community has embraced this team and it meant a lot to finally get this first win for them,” he adds.

After opening the season with seven consecutive losses, the Bears beat the Saint John Union Monday night at the K.C. Irving Centre in Bathurst.

“I wouldn’t say I doubted the ability of my team – I know these guys can win in this league,” Langis says. “The trust, the chemistry and the concentration – these are the things we need to keep building on,” he continues. “We can never be too strong in those facets of competing.”

The first-place Truro Tide (8-0) host the Union (5-4) tonight at 7 p.m. at Cobequid Education Centre.

On Friday at 7 p.m., the Vipers entertain the Moncton Motion (4-3). Charlottetown Power (4-4) welcome the Bears on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre.

The Bears visit the Valley Vipers (1-5) Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Stu Aberdeen Centre on the campus of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

In Atlantic Canada, we opened our first Papa Johns franchise in Moncton, operating under the name of PJ Atlantic Restaurants Ltd. in 2009.
