Power Surge

Charlottetown Power saved the best for last, and moved into second place in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

The Power outscored the visiting Bathurst Bears 26-13 in the fourth quarter and earned a 100-91 win before 552 spectators Friday night at the Eastlink Centre. The win gives the Power a 5-4 record while the Bears slipped to 1-8.

Zach Hinton paced the Power with 27 points while Adam Stanford added 23 and Jordan Holness delivered 18. Stanley Mayambo replied with 23 points while Brian Williams and Brandon Jamar each had 16.

The Power hosts the first-place Truro Tide (9-0) Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre.

The Bears visit the Valley Vipers (2-5) Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Stu Aberdeen Centre on the campus of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The Tide and Power meet on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cobequid Education Centre in Truro. 

Moncton Motion (4-5) hosts the Saint John Union (5-5) on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Avenir Centre.
