The streak is over, and the Charlottetown Power have taken over sole possession of second place in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

The Power upset the previously-unbeaten Truro Tide 99-97 in a spirited matchup before 340 spectators Saturday afternoon at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.

The victory gives the Power a 6-4 record while the first-place Tide slipped to 9-1.The Tide and Power tip off again Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cobequid Education Centre in Truro.

Zach Hinton poured in 28 points for the Power, who led 58-55 at the half. Adam Stanford added 19 points while KV Myricks and Marcellus Taliaferro had 10 each.

Armon Benford and DeQuon Cascart paced the Tide with 19 points each and Qyemah Gibson netted 17. Meanwhile, the Moncton Motion (4-4) host the Saint John Union (5-4) on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Avenir Centre.
