Power Plug Into Second Place

The Charlottetown Power have opened a busy weekend by slipping into second place in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

The Power, who host three games in as many days, beat the Saint John Union 124-108 Friday night at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown. The win gives the Power a 7-5 record and a slim lead over the Union in the battle for second place. The Union dropped to 7-6.

KV Myricks and Zach Hinton each poured in 23 points for the Power, who led 66-55 at halftime. Chevon Brown replied with 28 points for the Union while Mikey Rodriquez had 24 and Tyler Haynes netted 23. 

League play continues Saturday, when the Power host the first-place Truro Tide (10-1). Game time is 2 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre. The Moncton Motion (4-5) visit the Union on Saturday at 7 p.m. at TD Station in Saint John. The Union and Valley Vipers (3-7) square off tomorrow night in Saint John and the Bathurst Bears (2-8) visit the Tide.
