Offense in Motion

Moncton Motion never let their foot off the gas on Sunday afternoon.

The Motion set a record for points in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League when they beat the hometown Charlottetown Power 135-106 at the Eastlink Centre.

The Motion’s offense was scorching hot in the first half, and they took a 73-67 lead into the break.

The win gives the Motion a 5-6 record and the Power dropped to 7-7.

Robbie Robinson led the Motion with 43 points while former University of Prince Edward Island standout Isaiah Ankra dropped in 23 and Doug Thomas had 19.

Adam Stanford scored 23 points for the Power while Zach Hinton netted 17 and Jordan Holness added 16.

The Motion were 27-for-31 from the foul line.

League play resumes on Saturday, when the Power visit the Valley Vipers (4-7) and the Bathurst Bears (2-10) host the Motion.
