Tide Dressed to the Nines

The Truro Tide show no signs of slowing down in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

The Tide improved their record to 9-0 by beating the visiting Saint John Union 101-89 Thursday night before 125 spectators at the Cobequid Education Centre. Saint John’s record falls to 5-5 and sole possession of third place.

Garric Young led the Tide with 23 points while Khalil Miller poured in 21 and DeQuan Cascart added 14. Kyler Hayes answered with 40 points for the Union, who trailed 50-49 at halftime. Salim Whyche netted 18 points and Mikey Rodriquez had 14.

League play resumes Friday at 7 p.m., when the Moncton Motion (4-3) visit the Valley Vipers (1-5) at the Stu Aberdeen Centre on the Acadia University campus in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Bathurst Bears (1-7) visit the Charlottetown Power (4-4) on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre.

The Motion and Union clash on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Avenir Centre in Moncton.
