Vipers on Their Way
Infrastructure issues with the court has put the Valley Vipers’ home schedule in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League on hold for a brief period. Minor repairs are needed on the newly-acquired court and crews at the Kings Mutual Century Centre require some time to take out the arena’s ice.
Valley’s scheduled home games on Thursday against the Charlottetown Power and Friday against the Saint John Union have been postponed. Brittany Traynor, the team’s Manager of Business and Basketball operations, expects new dates to be announced within a few days.
“It’s too bad because we’ve attended some community functions and people in the Valley are really looking forward to supporting their team” she says. “It’s better to have a short delay to make sure we do everything the proper way.”
The Vipers, who lost their season-opener a week ago in Truro, are scheduled to play their next road game on April 16 in Charlottetown.
“A lot of fans and sponsors have stepped up, and everyone’s eager to have some home games,” Traynor says.
