Power Hungry

Charlottetown Power head coach Lonnie States is impressed with his team’s practice habits. However, the players are also eager to begin their regular season in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

“Our guys have been working hard and they are forming bonds on the court and in the community,” States says.

“They are believing in each other and they are believing in the systems we are trying to bring in,” he adds. “Practices have been good, but they really want to compete.”

The Power open their regular season on Saturday night against the Moncton Motion. Game time is 7 p.m.at the East Link Centre in Charlottetown. The Power also visit the Saint John Union on Sunday afternoon. States has watched Saint John, Bathurst Bears, Valley Vipers and Truro Tide in their opening games.

“I have seen every team play hard and there are a lot of evenly-matched teams that are going to produce some great basketball games,” says States, who is assisted by Kathy Quinn.

“I know the kind of team we have and we’re going to be competitive with other teams in the league,” he continues. “Our guys are ready to get after it. We might lack a little size, but we’re very athletic and we can shoot the ball very well.”

Today, Papa Johns boasts over 3,600 restaurants and can be found in more than 35 international markets outside of the USA. In Atlantic Canada, we opened our first Papa Johns franchise in Moncton, operating under the name of PJ Atlantic Restaurants Ltd. in 2009. This was the first of many Papa Johns restaurants to be opening over the next few years to serve the Maritime provinces. We now have a dozen restaurants in the following areas:
