Moncton Motion Head Coach, Todd McKillop, has delivered a key message to his players, and he’s impressed with their ardent response.

“Our game is to go after other teams, defend hard and make the opposition uncomfortable,” McKillop says. “They were excited about that,” he adds. “They want to be the best defensive team in the league and a team that the opposition doesn’t want to face.”

The Motion begin play in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League on Thursday, April 6 against the Bathurst Bears. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Avenir Centre. McKillop, who also coaches the Crandall University Chargers in the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association and previously served as an assistant coach in the National Basketball League of Canada, says the Motion have good size, several skilled ball-handlers and accomplished shooters.

“We look like we’re going to be in pretty good shape offensively, but what pleases me the most is that the guys are buying into the defensive plan,” he notes. “Hard work on defense is what will separate winners from the rest of the league.”

McKillop is excited about having veteran Robbie Robinson on the Motion’s roster.

“He’s a very good player who will be a team leader – he’s a player everyone looks up to,” McKillop says.
