Signs of Success

Tomorrow is an important day for the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League, and it comes after a comprehensive selection process. The league will begin announcing its player signings for the upcoming inaugural season on February 1. League President Tim Kendrick says players have agreed to contracts that guarantee high-level performance on the court and community obligations off it.

“We’ve seen all of these players and we know they have the ability to play at a professional level,” Kendrick says. “The other part of the equation is their character,” he adds. “We have to be sure they agree with the league’s commitment to serving our communities in positive ways. “This league is all about serving our communities and our players have to fit into that way of thinking, too.”

The Eastern Canadian Basketball League has held two combines for players in Los Angeles and one in Truro, Nova Scotia so they could display their skills for league officials and scouts. Over 400 players have sent their resumes, with video clips of past performances, to the league. Coaches have also added the names of specific players they would like to see on their rosters.

During the next few weeks, players will be introduced frequently through Your Daily Slice. Rosters for all ECBL teams will be announced on or before training camp which will begin the second week of March.

“The players and coaches are looking forward to it, and we’re getting positive feedback from our fans every day so it looks like it’s going to be an exciting season ahead.”
