Tre Brewer feels like a pioneer – and he couldn’t be happier.
The 32 year-old Californian has played basketball all over the world, but his journey with the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League has no comparison.
“It’s really cool because we’re starting something new,” the shooting guard says. “Any time you are part of something new, it’s special,” he adds. “It’s a new league and we’re going to bring pro basketball to people so we want to make an impact.”
Brewer, a native of Rancho Cucamonga and sociology major out of Youngstown State (Ohio) and Cal State San Bernardino, is eager to see his Eastern Canadian Basketball League home.
“It’s going to be fun to meet new people while I chase my dreams,” Brewer said. “When I talk with kids, I tell them to always follow their dreams because you never know where they will take you. Make the most of every day.”
Brewer has previously played professionally in Colombia, China, Dubai, Mexico, Singapore and various stops in Central America. He has been in Jamaica recently to work out and sharpen his court skills. The six-foot-four shooting guard also had a brief stint with the Cape Breton Highlanders of the National Basketball League of Canada a few years ago.
“I’m a better player now – more of a slasher and a playmaker who also likes to score.”
