Sanford

When Adam Sanford describes his basketball skills, there is one attribute he’s most proud of, and he’s bringing it to the Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

“I am very coachable,” the six-foot-four wing says, “because I can adapt to a lot of different roles – whatever it takes to help my team win games.”

The 28 year-old from Richmond, Kentucky is a 2017 graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College, where he majored in graphic arts and earned a minor in communications. Since then, Sanford has played professionally in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Denmark and Mexico. He’s looking forward to his first visit to the Maritimes.

“I’m excited and I can’t wait to get started,” he says, “I hear that it’s a new league and we’re getting a lot of good players who are going to be there “The competition is good, and it’s good for me because I’ve been all over the world and I’m happy to play (in North America),” he adds.

Sanford “loves to play above the rim,” but he can also knock down mid-range jump shots while never losing sight of his defensive assignments. Sanford is a long-time volunteer with the Boys’ and Girls’ Club in his community. He’s looking forward to working with young players in his new home.

“The first thing they ask me is if I can dunk,” he says. “When I show them I can, they want to talk some more so I can encourage them. “I love that – before games, after games, anytime I can encourage kids is good for me.”
