Myricks

Six-foot point guard, KV Myricks, has a unique perspective when he tells children to always follow their dreams, even when they seem like they will never come true. The 28 year-old native of Gary, Indiana who now resides in southern California, has won a college basketball championship and he’s endured dire times as a homeless person. After surviving life’s ups and downs, Myricks is eagerly looking forward to playing professional basketball. He’ll be joining the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League, when training camps begin in early March.

“I like talking to kids and giving them encouragement,” Myricks says. “Life is not going to be easy, but your dreams are worth working for. “Playing pro basketball has always been my dream so I put my head down and worked hard to get here,” he says.

When Myricks played for the Oxnard College Condors, he was frequently homeless and he slept and showered in the athletic center. He transferred to the University of Los Angeles College of Divinity, where he graduated in 2020 with a major in ministry. Myricks, who raises money for the homeless by selling his own brand of clothing, was an integral member of the team that posted a 27-1 record and captured the American Christian College Association championship.

“We had a small school, but we had guys on the team who were all working together,” he notes. “That’s my goal for Canada. I want to do whatever it takes to win a championship.”

Myricks, who played in Mexico after college, is grateful for the opportunity to play in the Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

“God has blessed me and given me the chance to help others,” he says. “That’s what I want to do in my basketball career and in my life.”
