Tide’s Streak Hits Three

The Truro Tide has opened the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League season with three consecutive wins.

The Tide beat the visiting Bathurst Bears 129-93 Friday night at Cobequid Education Centre. The loss dropped the Bears record to 0-4.

Tyrone Watson led the Tide with 25 points, including 16 in the first half. Khalil Miller added 19 points and DeQuon Cascar had 18 for the Tide, who led 54-32 at the break.

Stanley Mayamno replied with 20 points for the Bears whole Giovanni Jackson had 18 and Shequell Gilgeous-Glasgow netted 15.

League play resumes Saturday night, when the Moncton Motion (1-0) visit the Charlottetown Power (0-0). Game time is 7 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre. The Power then visit the Saint John Union (2-1) on Sunday at 2 p.m. at TD Station. The Tide return to action on Thursday (April 14), when they visit the Bears.
