Tide Continue to Make Splash

The Truro Tide are dominating both ends of the court and forcibly tightening their grip on first place in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League. The Tide overpowered the Moncton Motion 121-90 before about 900 spectators Friday night at the Avenir Centre.

The Tide have opened the season with six straight wins and the Motion are 1-2. The Tide surrendered just 10 points in the second quarter and led 55-33 at halftime.

Tyrone Watson led the Tide with 19 points while Qyeman Gibson poured 18 with five three-pointers. Davie Champagnie countered with 23 points for the Motion and Robbie Robinson had 20.

League play resumes tonight, when the Motion host the Charlottetown Power (2-3). Game time is 7 p.m. at the Avenir Centre. The Tide visit the Valley Vipers (1-2) on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Stu Aberdeen Centre on the campus of Acadia University. This is home-opener for the Vipers.
