Seven Seize: Tide Keep Rolling

The Truro Tide spoiled the home-opener for the Valley Vipers Sunday afternoon. The Tide beat the Vipers 115-99 before 300 spectators at the Stu Aberdeen Centre on the campus of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia for their seven consecutive win.

The Vipers, who are waiting to have their home court repaired in nearby Berwick, have opened the season in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League with a 1-3 record.

Tyrone Watson led the Tide with 29 points while DeQuon Cascart added 23 and Oyeman Gibson connected to 18. JoBreil Powell answered with 26 points for the Vipers, while Anthony Ottley poured in 22 and Tre McCou had 15.

League play resumes on Wednesday, when the Charlottetown Power (2-4) visit the Bathurst Bears (0-5). Game time is 7 p.m. at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. The Moncton Motion (2-2) host the Vipers on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Avenir Centre.

On Friday at 7 p.m., the Motion and Tide square off at Cobequid Education Centre in Truro and the Power visit the Saint John Union (4-2) at TD Station.
