Power Enjoy Home Cooking
Charlottetown Power are beginning to establish home-court advantage in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League, and they still have two more games at the Eastlink Centre this weekend.
The Power defeated the visiting Saint John Union 100-92 before about 500 spectators Friday night for their second straight home-court victory to open the season.
Overall, the Power are 2-1 and the Union slipped to 3-2.
Zack Hinton poured in 22 points for the Power, who led 49-45 at halftime. Adam Stanford added 21 points and KV Myricks netted 19. Kyle Arsenault led the Union with 29 points while Chevon Brown had 20 and Salkim Wythe added 15.
The Power host the first-place Truro Tide (4-0) tonight. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre. Valley Vipers (0-1) visit the Power on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Charlottetown.
Meanwhile, the Moncton Motion (1-1) have had to reschedule some games in order to accommodate the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Moncton Wildcats and their playoff schedule at the Avenir Centre.
The Motion will host the Tide on Friday, April 21, the Power on Saturday, April 22 and the Vipers on Thursday, April 27. The Motion will also entertain the Union on May 8.
