Valley-Ball

Valley Vipers are the only team in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League that represents an entire region rather than a singular city. Britt Traynor, the team’s Manager of Business and Basketball Operations, believes that will be the key to the team’s success during its inaugural season.

“You’re talking about an area that is more than 100 kilometres in length, and there are also all points in-between,” Traynor says “All of these people are proud of being from the (Annapolis) Valley and they’re going to be proud of their professional basketball team.”

Each of the league’s six teams will play a 26-game schedule. The Vipers will play their home games in Kings Mutual Century Centre in Berwick, the mid-point between Wolfville and Digby and in the heart of the Valley. The arena has a capacity of nearly 2,000, and Traynor is expecting the team to attract large crowds.

“We’re hearing a lot of people talking about the team and they’re looking forward to seeing the players in the community,” Traynor says. “We’re seeing sponsors come forward – I’m taking calls every day,” she adds. “We have a lot of reasons to be optimistic. This is the Valley’s team and we’re confident the whole Valley is going to support it.”

In Atlantic Canada, we opened our first Papa Johns franchise in Moncton, operating under the name of PJ Atlantic Restaurants Ltd. in 2009.  This was the first of many Papa Johns restaurants to be opening over the next few years to serve the Maritime provinces.
