Tide Schedule

Truro Tide Head Coach Pat Havard believes his team will have the most unique home-court advantage in the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League. The Tide will host their home games at Cobequid Educational Centre, a sprawling high school for students from Truro and surrounding Colchester County communities. The school has a double-sized gymnasium with room to squeeze in about 1,000 spectators, making it the smallest venue among the six teams in the league.

“There could be some interesting games in there because we’re not in an arena like the other teams,” says Havard, a Truro native who formerly served as an assistant coach with the Moncton Magic and the Island Storm in the National Basketball League of Canada. “It might start slow in Truro because we are new, but once word gets around about the high-quality of play in town, we’ll get some great crowds and that should be an advantage to our players.”

Training camps will begin in early to mid-March and games will begin late in the month. Each of the six teams will play 26-game schedules. Havard is eager to see Maritime players compete against top-notch players, who have competed in the American college system.

“This is the beauty of this league – we’re going to have a place where Canadians, and Maritimers in particular, can show their skills,” the head coach says. “There’s a lot of talent out there – they just need a league like this to show it off.”

Papa Johns

In 1984, Papa Johns Pizza started in the small town of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and its popularity has spread all the way to Atlantic Canada.  Today, Papa Johns boasts over 3,600 restaurants and can be found in more than 35 international markets outside of the USA. In Atlantic Canada, we opened our first Papa Johns franchise in Moncton, operating under the name of PJ Atlantic Restaurants Ltd. in 2009.
