There’s No “I” in Uproar

Moncton entrepreneur Denis Duquette knows all about the importance of teamwork.

The co-owner of Uproar Productions was an outstanding member of the Moncton High Purple Knights during some of the school’s best basketball years and he instilled the idea of collaboration into the business. Duquette also believes in teamwork in the community so Uproar Productions has stepped up as a corporate sponsor of the Moncton Motion and the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

“I’ve always enjoyed going to basketball games and it was always a great place to see people you haven’t seen for a long time – a lot of years sometimes,” says Duquette, who turns 40 later this month. “I think it’s important to have a pro basketball team in our community because we get to see the sport at a high level and it brings people together…they work together to support the team's success.”

Duquette played briefly with the Mount Allison Mounties after high school. He then worked as a photographer before establishing Uproar a couple of years ago. He is a video director and has worked on several corporate, non-profit and private projects with Uproar.

“The company is not about me – it’s about a team of six people working together,” Duquette notes. “Everything – 100 per cent – is about the team.

Besides Duquette, the company has a videographer, two editors, a production manager and a financial officer. Its head office is at 700 Main Street, Suite 307.

“Basketball was a big part of my life growing up,” he says. “I played it 10 or 11 months of the year and I loved it. “When you look back, you realize how many life lessons we learned from basketball. Now, I am using many of these same lessons in my business life.”
