That’s the Ticket

Eastern Canadian Basketball League founder Ravi Verma is amazed by the number of emails and phone calls he’s getting from Maritimers.

“We can feel the excitement building and we still have a couple of months before the season starts,” Verma says. “The fans are telling us they are very happy about having professional basketball in their communities,” he notes. “It gives all of us a lot of encouragement and let’s us know it’s going to be an exciting time for the league.”

The Moncton Motion, Bathurst Bears, Saint John Union, Charlottetown Power, Summerside Slam, Valley Vipers and Truro Tide will open the league’s inaugural season in late March. Team rosters are being constructed. Player signings are expected to be announced in early February.

Verma said brisk early ticket sales and corporate sponsorships have made him more optimistic than ever that the league is going to thrive. Season tickets are now available for Saint John and Bathurst at their respective box offices. Season ticket requests for all teams can be accessed through the league’s website or by clicking here.  All ticket-buyers will be contacted by the league within two weeks.

Early season ticket buyers in Moncton, who took advantage of the Holiday Sale, will also be contacted within two weeks.

Verma says the league is also actively seeking corporate sponsorships.

“So far, we’ve seen several Maritime companies respond in a very favorable and encouraging way so we hope others also come forward,” he notes.

In Atlantic Canada, we opened our first Papa Johns franchise in Moncton, operating under the name of PJ Atlantic Restaurants Ltd. in 2009.
