Motion are in Motion

Moncton Motion have switched the dates of some home games, and they are ready to honor minor basketball associations.

The Motion were scheduled to host the Saint John Union on Thursday night at the Avenir Centre, but they have moved the game to May 8 in order to accommodate the Moncton Wildcats and their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff game against the Halifax Mooseheads.

“We support our local team and hope they can advance in the playoffs,” says Dave Tingley, Manager of Business and Basketball operations with the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League’s Motion. “We were able to work with the Avenir Centre to make this work out for everyone involved.”

The Motion (1-1) return to action on Friday night, when they host the first-place Truro Tide (5-0). Game time is 7 p.m. The Motion also entertain the Charlottetown Power (2-3) on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Avenir Centre.

The Motion will honor Moncton Kiwanis Minor Basketball on Friday night and Riverview Minor Basketball on Saturday night. Dieppe Minor Basketball will be honored on Thursday (April 27), when the Motion host the Valley Vipers. Proceeds from the 50-50 draws on those nights will be donated to the minor basketball associations.

“We want the kids to come and enjoy the games and see what kind of skills they bring to our community,” Tingley says. “Basketball is such a great game, and we want everyone to love it as much as we do.”
