Berryman

Alex Berryman’s passion is basketball, and his most intense feelings about the game come from talking about others – especially children.

“When you coach kids and guide them then see them develop as players and people, that’s special,” the 29 year-old Los Angeles native explains.

Berryman, a six-foot combo guard and product of Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, will bring his skills and desire to help others to the new Eastern Canadian Basketball League. Since college, Berryman has played professionally in Spain and Brazil and in the 3x3 Circuit in southern California.

“I’m a better player than when I was younger,” Berryman says. “I’m more versatile and I will do whatever I have to do to help the team. “I can be a 1 and distribute the ball or a 2 and shoot. I’m a pretty good shooter off the dribble.”

Since returning to Los Angeles, Berryman has spent much of his time coaching elite 6-17 year-old players.

“It’s rewarding to see their growth,” he notes. “I teach them and encourage them to be their best.”

Berryman, whose father and much of his family is from Montreal, is looking forward to his first season in the Eastern Canadian Basketball League.

“It should be a very good league, and I hope to have some time to work with kids there,” he says. “I will bring some positive messages to them.”
