Motion Slickness

Moncton Motion, who play seven of their next eight games on the road, made a statement on their home court Thursday night.

The Motion played their best two-way game of the young season and defeated the Valley Vipers 102-81 in a new Eastern Canadian Basketball League game before 1,000 spectators at the Avenir Centre. The Motion executed several extended offensive runs while defending with purpose.

The Motion improved their record to 3-2 and the Vipers fell to 1-4.

Robbie Robinson led the Motion with 36 points while Tristan Davis added 11 and Jeff Montenegro and Emmanuel Ndatuje each chipped in with 10.

JoBreil Power replied with 18 points for the Vipers, who trailed 44-41 at halftime then could only manage 13 points in the third quarter. Alex Muise added 14 points for the Vipers and Anthony Ottley had 11.

The Motion visit the first-place Truro Tide (7-0) on Friday night. Game time is 7 p.m. at Cobequid Education Centre. The Saint John Union (4-2) hosts the Charlottetown Power (3-4) at the same time at TD Station. On Sunday, the Vipers and Union meet at 2 p.m. in Saint John and the Bathurst Bears (0-6) host the Motion at the K.C. Irving Centre.
